Psychology of Winning: Nobody Want to Lift No Heavy Ass Weight

The Psychology of Winning

Ronnie Coleman said it best. “Everybody wanna be a Bodybuilder, but don’t nobody wanna lift no heavy ass weight!”  That in the simplest terms is the psychology of winning!

Don’t believe me? Here is a short clip of Ronnie saying just that.

Psychology of Winning: Motivation

Motivation is probably one of the most important factors on whether you will succeed or not. If you are not motivated or moved to act in one way or another, the rest of the important steps that need to happen simply will not. As you can see here, Mr. Coleman is very inspired to succeed. He is so inspired in fact, that he basically is telling his opposition how to defeat him.

Ronnie Coleman is not just going to let someone overcome him with a positive mental outlook though. Because the challenge is what most people do not want to face.

In my past lives I have been fortunate to have people around me that could inspire me. From coaches, to business leaders to family, there has always been someone around to challenge me.

What are you goals?

Psychology of Winning: Hard Work

Wanting something is not enough though, is it? This is where at least 50% of the “also rans” fail. These people are motivated. I mean, they want whatever it is they want so badly they can taste it! They can see it! These people can even smell it sometimes.

No matter what you think of the gentleman in the video, one thing we have to admit is that he busted his ass to get where he is. I don’t know about you, but I have found that if I outwork someone that I could eventually outperform someone more talented than myself.

Back to my past, I have always been around people that preached I had to out-hustle the next guy. There was not much wiggle room here. If you are unable or unwilling to put forth the effort that your competition is putting in then it is probably a good time to reevaluate your goals.

Something to ask yourself, how much time and effort are you willing to dedicate?

Psychology of Winning: A Plan

Do you have a plan for success? Do you have a resource to get them if you don’t? Well, you better get it together as soon as possible.

Some of the most talented people on earth are full of skill and fire but they have no plan. These people most certainly fail to meet their goals when they are confronted by someone with nearly as much passion and effort but a better plan.

There is no need to reinvent the wheel here. Many before you or I have tried some of the things we want to do. Others are on the cutting edge of their respective industry. The point is you can look to others for guidance to take you to the next level.

Love them or hate them but the New England Patriots clearly have a plan. They have two constants, Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. Besides those two, most of the other parts are interchangeable. Yet, year after year they manage to be one of the best teams in the NFL and a perennial playoff team.

Don’t get me wrong, your plan does not have to be perfect. Your plan just has to be good enough!

Psychology of Winning: End Game

Winning is how you define it.

I watched the Winter Olympics recently and each athlete had a very different definition of success.

Some where happy to finish in the top twenty in their sport. Some others felt they failed if they did not win a medal!

At the end of the day, success is how you define it. But in order to achieve success you have to be motivated to work hard and to have a sound game-plan.

This all takes effort, discipline and knowledge. Although, knowledge I feel is debatable if you have someone around you that can guide you!

Don’t worry though!

Once you get to a certain point in your craft, skill or hobby, others fall by the wayside.

Like Ronnie Coleman said, “Everybody wanna be a bodybuilder. But don’t nobody wanna lift no heavy ass weight!

I’d like to add one that hopefully one (or many) of our readers might use someday, “I’m only a failure at failing.
