My Short Cliff Bar Energy Bar Review

I just finished my squat workout today, and after I took a bite of one of my Cliff Bar Peanut Butter Banana flavored energy bars. And then as I was walking my way inside, I was surprised at how quickly the protein bar was gone. In fact, I actually had to double check that I had gotten the right kind at the store, because surely something with ten grams of protein didn’t just go down so easy.

Turns out, I had gotten the right kind and it had indeed gone down that easy. So I was struck with the sudden motivation to write a quick review of this product to help get the word out.

Cliff Bar Peanut Butter Banana Taste and Texture

Honestly, the taste isn’t something I usually look forward to in a bar that I eat for protein. But the Cliff Bar Peanut Butter Banana energy bar is actually the opposite. I have had to stop myself from just grabbing and snacking on one of these things before bed or any time I’m just sitting around. I taste more of the peanut butter than the banana, but I don’t really mind all that much.

And as for the texture, it’s also pretty good. It’s nice and soft, and crumbles easily. Unlike other brands of protein bars, you don’t have to dig into this thing with your molars and tear off a piece with actual effort. Chewing on them is easy, too, and doesn’t leave your jaw sore afterwards. The one thing I would say is that I do get pretty thirsty eating them, so they go well with a diet soda or a water.

Cliff Bar Peanut Butter Banana Nutrition Facts

The thing about the Cliff Bars I’ve come to realize is that they’re really not for sitting around with just snacking on. The Cliff Bars are very nutrient dense, despite how light and airy they are compared to other protein bars. They have about seven grams of fat, with two grams of saturated fat. These bars also contain about forty one grams of carbs, and twenty one grams of sugar, making them very sweet tasting. I don’t see that as a big drawback, though, because I eat them either for recovery or an energy boost.

They also have about 260mg of sodium, but the main event for me is the ten grams of protein that are in the bar. This shocked me, because as I said above, it really didn’t feel as hard to eat as other protein bars. The bar also contains plenty of vitamins and minerals that are high enough to help your athletic performance or recovery, but low enough as to not impede your daily value too much.

My favorite part of the bars though, is probably the fact that they digest easier than any I’ve ever eaten. Most protein bars and shakes sit in my stomach like a rock, but not cliff bars. Don’t get me wrong, you feel it when you eat them. But if you want to you can certainly have another meal after one of these bad boys.

Conclusion

All in all, I like these a lot, and will probably be purchasing more in the future. From the vitamins, to the minerals, to the protein. It just seems to strike a nice balance for what I’m looking for. If I had to rate them on a number scale, with ten being perfect and zero being inedible, I’d probably rate them a solid seven.
