Impractical Jokers Cruise Review

My Review of the Impractical Jokers Cruise

The Impractical Jokers is a TV series about four lifelong friends that challenge each other to complete a series of dares. Each round of dares will have winners and losers. At the end of the episode the Joker with the most losses will have to participate in a punishment, which they must complete.

Examples of some the punishments include: Wrestling a professional Sumo wrestler, performing in a cheesy play in front of old friends and on one episode one of the Jokers even had to have his prostate checked in front of medical students!

If this type of humor is for you then you will love the Impractical Jokers as much as I do!

For Christmas this year, I was surprised with tickets to the Impractical Jokers Cruise. I am going to be as objective as possible with this review.

What does the Impractical Jokers Cruise cost?

I do not have a list of all the cabins and what the rates are but we booked an interior cabin aboard the Norwegian Pearl. We did not get any upgrades nor did we buy the drink package since we do not drink and our total was $2300 for a four night trip with one stop.

To put this in perspective this is roughly twice the cost for a four night cruise with a similar destination. Obviously you are paying for the entertainment and the chance to meet the Jokers.

Where did the Impractical Jokers Cruise go?

The cruise took us to Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas. This island is owned by Norwegian Cruise Line and while it is quite beautiful it really does not have the “vibe” of other islands.

There is lively music playing, we were treated to a free buffet and the beach is very pretty and clean.

We did a bit of snorkeling right off of the beach and saw some fish and some interesting carved rocks under the water.

It is definitely not a “snorkeling destination” but if you enjoy that sort of thing its a nice way to pass some time.

How was the entertainment on the Impractical Jokers Cruise?

Before I go on, I probably should let you know that we are not late night party people or drinkers.

Therefore, we did not attend quite a few events or performances. I will say that the events we did attend were quite fun and the comedy showcases were hilarious!

Some of the events we attended included:

The show that the the Jokers all put on together. Everyone had an assigned day and time to see the show and it was quite organized and very funny.

The gong show, also hosted by the Jokers. This event allowed passengers aboard the ship to showcases their talents. If the performance was too bad or too long then the contestant would get “gonged” by one of the Jokers. Here is a piece of advice- If you are doing a dance or singing a song, do not use the complete radio version. Use an edited version that is between a minute and a minute and a half long.

The belly flop contest, which is a callback to an old punishment, was very entertaining.

Also, bands are scattered around the ship and throughout the day so it is never hard to find some music to hear.

Speaking of music, I hear the Karaoke show is quite incredible as well.

There were also some theme days such as; Dress up as your favorite Joker, What do you MEME day and the Luau party. We did them all but we did not actually attend the luau because it was a bit too late in the evening for our taste.

How was the food on the Impractical Jokers Cruise?

We have been to several resorts and cruises. In fact, we travel very frequently.

My opinion of the food is that it was average but the selection was a little bit lacking, especially in the main dining rooms.

On our first night we went to one of the dining rooms and we looked over the menu. After ordering and having dinner we asked if we could see the next day’s menu. It was then that we found out the menu was going to be the same each day of the cruise.

We are not used to that, we are accustomed to the main dining rooms varying their menus daily. The buffet was not bad but sometimes we prefer to just sit and eat and be served. I certainly would not consider this a cruise for “foodies”.

How was access to the Impractical Jokers on the cruise?

I have to tell you, I don’t know how these guys find the energy! They are putting on or hosting shows all day.

I would not be surprised if these guys did not get more than four hours of sleep a night. By the end of the cruise, most if not all of them had lost their voices.

On the other hand, access to these gentlemen was spotty and in some cases, scarce.

Of the four Jokers, James “Murr” Murray was the most accessible. From the moment we got on board until the very last night he could be found mingling with the crowds and snapping selfies with fans.

While we did not get a picture with him, I did see Joseph “Joe” Gatto Jr. on the main pool deck taking pictures with fans. I also spoke to others that saw him wandering around on the pool deck early in the morning and speaking with some of the cruisers.

We did manage to get a picture with Salvatore “Sal” Vulcano, who we heard was one of the most reclusive Jokers. He was actually quite patient while we fumbled around with our phone to get the phone to selfie mode.

Brian “Q” Quinn I did not see one time besides on a stage. However, there are pictures of him with the fans, so clearly he did some mingling of his own.

There was quite a bit of complaining on the Impractical Jokers Cruise Facebook page about access to these men.

I think the criticism is fair but I also have to say that many of the fans also were very unreasonable!

I read that some of the cruisers aboard the ship took 10 or 20 and sometimes more pictures with some of the Jokers. To put this in perspective, if each selfie ONLY took two seconds to shoot but each of the 3000 or so passengers took 20 photos, this would equal an additional EIGHT hours per day of work for each of the Impractical Jokers!

The behavior by these types of fans, in my opinion is rude and unfair. Unfair to the other passengers and unfair to the Jokers themselves. It is people like that, in my opinion, that keep the more reclusive Jokers away from mingling.

I suggest a system where each passenger gets a ticket for a selfie with each Joker. Once they have used their ticket, no more selfies! Unless of course the Joker in question CHOOSES to go back and mingle with the crowds.

Once again, I have to give a big shout out to James “Murr” Murray who was everywhere and really went far above and beyond expectations to really interact with his fans!

Overall experience on the Impractical Jokers Cruise

I would be lying if I said we had a BAD time . After all, we were on the ship with the Jokers, which happens to be one of our favorite programs. There was music all over the ship most of the time and a slew of talented comedians.

On the other hand, since we are not late night party people, we did miss quite a bit. This of course is our own fault, but something that is good to know if you also are more into daytime-early evening activities.

Our favorite day was the last day of the cruise. On day four the activities all started early and we had a great time at all of them.

The destination itself was somewhat “blah” for us. But, as I said earlier, we are frequent travelers and have seen some pretty incredible Caribbean islands.

The food could use an upgrade in the dining room or at the very least, perhaps vary the menu from day to day.

I would estimate that 90% of the people aboard the ship are exactly the type of people you want to be around. If you enjoy the Impractical Jokers TV show, then you likely have a certain sense of humor. With that sense of humor, you are bound to meet some really laid back and entertaining people.

On the other hand, that last 10% can be belligerent, not able to handle their alcohol or are picture hogs. These are the people that can ruin an experience or even a whole cruise! They really cause a scene, force security to usher the Jokers away or just make general enjoyment next to impossible.

If I were to grade the cruise overall all I would give it a four out of five star rating. After all it is not the fault of Sixthman entertainment or the Impractical Jokers that I am in bed by 10 pm or earlier every night.

But it would be nice if they spread out the events so that some of us early birds can participate a little bit more. Then again, I do not know how that would work out logistically.

The next Impractical Jokers Cruise is scheduled for February 10th through the 14th, 2020. Be sure to visit the Facebook page or Sixthman for details.

General Cruise Tips

I have added this section since it seems that many of the people on the Facebook page are 1st time cruisers. There is no doubt in my mind the the Impractical Jokers Cruise #4 will also have some first timers. Here are my suggestions.

If you are an early bird, make a plan to stay up a bit later. That might mean sleeping in a bit or taking a nap during the day. There are some incredible events later on in the evening.

Do you drink? Depending on how much or how often you might want to upgrade to the drink package. Keep in mind that everyone in the room has to pay for the drink package.

Space is at a premium on a cruise ship. Depending on how many people are in your cabin and how large the cabin is you will find things might start to get really crowded pretty quickly. Here are some items that we use to free up as much space as possible.

A packing cube set allows you to organize your clothing by category or even by day. You can check some out HERE

I always use a toiletry bag. In fact, I keep mine packed all of the time. This saves a TON of space in the restroom and also keeps your toiletries from being scattered all over your luggage. This one actually has a hook so that it hangs. You will quickly run out of counter space if you try to spread everything out. Take a look at it HERE

Another item I always have with me is a laundry bag. The last thing you want to do is leave your previously worn clothes all over the room or worse, putting them back in your suitcase with clean clothing. A laundry bag is a must have so your clean clothes do not smell like sweat. HERE is a good one.

There are some things you just don’t want to fold into a square. For those items you can use a hanging garment bag! You can find one right HERE.

I hate to say this, but the restroom situation can be a little unpleasant. Be courteous and bring along a little spray to remove any odors after you use the restroom! Poo Pourri “Before You Go” spray is a good brand to try. It is also quite cheap! Check it out HERE.

Other items you might need are sunblock, a travel power adapter if you bring a lot of electronics, shoe bags etc…

Basically you should think about the fact that you are going to be in pretty cramped quarters with one or more people during your trip.

A word of caution. There are rumors that K-9’s were brought aboard the ship during the port day and that people were arrested for having drugs (weed included). I am not sure if this is true but when I boarded I saw with my own eyes at least four armed police officers on the ship eating lunch just minutes before we sailed.

The most important thing to do though is go ready to have fun and be courteous!
